The Inter-Agency Expert Group on the SDGs has launched a public consultation on the global monitoring indicators (6 August – 8 September, 2019). The survey includes a proposal to replace indicator 4.1.1 on children's learning outcomes with more general data on literacy. This would mark a tremendous setback in efforts not just to monitor but improve the quality of education and deliver on the promise of SDG 4. Read more about the consultation.
