
The Global SDG-Education 2030 Steering Committee meets on 4 June 2020, 14:00 – 16:00 (GMT+2).
The meeting will raise awareness of the potential impacts of the COVID-19 on education finance through sharing of experiences and lessons learned from the current and past crises. The meeting will also develop the Steering Committee’s recommendations to safeguard investment in quality education, especially for the disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting will hear from diverse speakers including a keynote speech from the United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education, Mr Gordon Brown. As a multi-stakeholder platform for the Global Education Goals, the Steering Committee will feature speakers from member States, civil society, multilateral partners, youth, and foundations.
The Steering Committee is Co-Chaired by Ms Stefania Giannini, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Education, and Mr Kazuhiro Yoshida, Japan.
